The Comfort Zone

For all the dark days and missing light,
I watch myself devoid of delight…

For all the nights which make me restless,
I see myself melting into hollowness…

For all the times I gave my all, to all,
I do not observe the value received…

In this modern world of selfishness,
All I see is get used to being used hue…

For every time I went beyond the line,
I see someone watching me creepily…

To just make sure someone is fine,
The world somehow laughed at me…

And when I finally wanted to find myself,
They judged me all this while…

For I found a zone where I can be me,
It wasn’t just comfort but a home where I can sleep…

I honestly don’t think there’s a “comfort zone” the world allows. Anything can be a double edged sword. Go to help someone, you’re deemed too kind. Stay in your shell, you’re deemed a loner. Every day seems courageous when you go up against that kind of attitude.

Absolutely agree. Well put, Vinay 🙂

You have a way with words! There’s just no pleasing people. If you are lucky, you get comfortable enough in your own skin, to ignore the world.

Thank you so much, Apeksha 🙂 Indeed.

That’s a unique take on the prompt, Ashu. I guess we are always at the mercy of the world, whether we do good or bad. Living a life is perhaps the most courageous act we do!

In that line and your response, you used a beautiful way to use the prompt. “perhaps the most courageous act we do!” Wow! Thanks, Sree. 🙂

Nice poem on the comfort zone. We generally tend to feel very dubious about coming out the comfort zone. But one thing I can say from my personal experience that if one does not come out of the comfort zone cannot taste the sweetness of success.

Get used to being used – sad reality of our times.

Beautiful attempt on the prompt through this poem! Indeed, we are always surrounded by people who judge us no matter what we do! So why even think about them if they are anyway going to judge 😀

I am nominating you for “The Mystery Blogger Award” under the category of Poetry. Check out the below link for additional details. It was a pleasure to get to know you during MFA campaign!

Comfort zone is such a scary word. What if nothing comforts, but just contains you? Lovely piece of work.

    • adodani October 27, 2017 @ 10:23 am

      So true, it’s scary. 🙁

You have an awesome knack of emoting in poetry; loved each and every line and could hear every thought that you wanted to present here. I agree with it all!! The world just doesnt let you be, even though your intentions are right! We strive to find that one place where there is no judgement!
