Cricket Deewaane

To start the post with a cliched phrase, “Cricket has become the new religion.” nowadays and we are seeing that how much it is taking over the youth, the teenagers, the working class, men, women and I can say everyone. It’s beyond caste, creed and gender. Realizing this we can relate it to the actual realization of the religion what is meant to be, which has to be beyond all, which has nothing to relate with any barriers, any classifications and just pure faith, prayers and belief majorly. What we see in people obsessed with cricket is that it brings them together and for us the religion, may it be any should bring us together, not just for a while, not just when it has a season but forever.
Basically this post was promised to a friend named Nikhil Popat (@CricCrazyNiks on twitter) whom I recently met on my Mumbai trip and he made a funny statement of me writing a blog on cricket because he knew that I don’t really watch cricket at all. To say that interests vary from person to person but I have dedicated this post to this friend of mine because the way I have known him till now, his life and the approach towards his life is similar as I have, so why not they be appreciated for being obsessed to niceness. We all know that anything in excess is not good but Nikhil, as I have seen balances even the overdone. For example, like as he saw the match live in Wankhede for five days, he knew he had to compensate to go for movies with his girl when she says, or he has to go to his CAT classes more just to compensate for his classes missed, or he has to do all his household chores to be a responsible son and last but not the least he has to manage to be in good terms with all his friends who somehow define his Life. We all have our own interests and judging someone for that is not something appropriate as I feel. On twitter nikhil just comes and tweets about cricket and sometimes the mushy stuff when he is emotional, he remembers some loving moments of his life or even when he wants to share something about him and his girl with everyone. I respect him more because he even though having so much of people around on twitter or even may be in real Life doesn’t change his behavior with every other person, he is the same with a new person, a just met good friend or an year old friend and that is very nice about him.To relate to cricket and him to life, he is the MS Dhoni of life, a captain who leads his team ( Friends + Family + Love) very well and at the end of every match (Situations) comes out to be successful and winning.
As everyone knows and even me that I don’t know much about cricket so I won’t let the auspiciousness of the game down by writing it in my naive words in that terms but I would just want to let you all know that once you can know how to balance things in Life, once you know your Responsibilities, Respect is something you will have, unsaid, untold, loud sometimes and Silent most of the times.
As Nikhil says, “Well OfCourse bhai Jaadu ki Jhappi”, this one is for you. 🙂 Cheers
